Pakistan and Kuwait Sign New Defence Cooperation Protocol to Strengthen Military Ties

Pakistan and Kuwait have signed the Protocol Agreement-2026, expanding the existing framework for military cooperation between the two countries. The agreement focuses on areas including military training, capacity building, border management and other mutually agreed fields of defence collaboration. (Geo News)

The protocol was signed during the visit of Kuwaiti Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah to Pakistan. During his visit, the Kuwaiti delegation held meetings with Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Field Marshal Asim Munir to discuss bilateral defence relations, security cooperation and regional security matters. Expanding Defence Cooperation

The new agreement builds on the Defence Cooperation Agreement signed between Pakistan and Kuwait in 2023. Under the latest protocol, Pakistan’s Armed Forces will provide assistance to their Kuwaiti counterparts in several areas, particularly training, capacity building and border management. (Daily Sun)

Officials described the development as another step toward strengthening institutional defence ties and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Focus on Regional Security

The agreement comes at a time of heightened security concerns across the region. Pakistan and Kuwait have emphasized the importance of stronger bilateral cooperation and their shared interest in supporting regional peace and stability. (Arab News)
