Rustam Nabiev Makes History by Climbing Mount Everest Without Prosthetic Legs

In an extraordinary display of determination, resilience, and human strength, Russian former soldier Rustam Nabiev has achieved what many believed was impossible — reaching the summit of Mount Everest using only his arms.

Nabiev lost both of his legs in a military barracks collapse in 2015. Rather than allowing the tragedy to define his life, he transformed his struggle into a journey of inspiration and became a symbol of perseverance for people around the world.

A Historic Climb

On May 20, 2026, at approximately 8:16 am Nepal time, Nabiev successfully reached the top of the world's highest mountain without the use of prosthetic legs.

The climb required years of preparation, intense physical training, and exceptional upper-body strength. Using ice axes and his arms, he moved across one of the most dangerous and challenging environments on Earth.

A Journey Beyond Everest

Before conquering Everest, Nabiev had already demonstrated his extraordinary abilities by summiting Mount Manaslu in 2021.

His latest achievement represents more than a mountaineering milestone—it sends a powerful message about breaking barriers, overcoming adversity, and challenging the limits of human potential.

Inspiring the World

Nabiev’s story has captured global attention and inspired millions. His journey proves that obstacles do not determine a person’s future; determination, courage, and perseverance do.

His achievement stands as a reminder that the greatest limits are often the ones we place on ourselves.
