Punjab Launches Pink Salt Processing Zone to Promote Exports and Create Employment

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched an initiative aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s pink salt industry by promoting value-added production, increasing exports, and creating employment opportunities.

The project includes the establishment of a 110-acre Pink Salt Mineral Processing Zone near Quaidabad, designed to support modern processing, packaging, branding, and marketing of pink salt products.

According to officials, the zone will feature more than 200 industrial units, along with a Business Facilitation Centre and a model retail outlet to support businesses and promote locally produced salt products.

The initiative is expected to attract approximately $150 million in investment and create nearly 10,000 employment opportunities, contributing to industrial growth and economic development.

Pakistan’s pink salt is recognized globally for its quality, and officials believe that improving value addition and branding can help increase its presence in international markets.

The project also focuses on promoting the “Made in Pakistan” label by encouraging better processing standards, attractive packaging, and stronger global positioning.

  • More than 200 industrial units expected.
  • Potential investment of around $150 million.
  • Nearly 10,000 job opportunities projected.
