Lahore-Sialkot Motorway Expansion Planned to Ease Traffic Pressure

Pakistan’s infrastructure development continues to move forward as the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway is set to receive two additional lanes to handle increasing traffic volume and improve travel flow between major cities. The decision was directed by Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan during a National Highway Authority (NHA) review meeting.

According to officials, the motorway expansion is part of broader plans to modernize important national routes, including the M-2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway and the M-4 Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad section. The government believes these upgrades will help reduce traffic congestion, improve regional connectivity, and support faster transportation across Punjab.

Authorities have also been instructed to accelerate work on ongoing motorway projects while ensuring high construction and safety standards. The focus remains on building a stronger and more efficient road network to support economic growth and provide smoother intercity travel for the public.

The Lahore-Sialkot Motorway has become one of the key travel routes in Punjab, and the planned expansion is expected to significantly improve commuting efficiency, freight movement, and overall road capacity in the coming years.

Officials say the government’s long-term vision is to modernize Pakistan’s transport infrastructure with better highways, improved connectivity, and safer travel facilities nationwide.
