Lahore High Court Orders Return of Rs. 70 Million

The Lahore High Court has ordered the return of Rs. 70 million deposited by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as surety in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case after NAB withdrew its proceedings. A three-member bench led by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum approved the plea following NAB's affidavit confirming the closure of the case. Maryam's counsel stated that Captain Safdar Awan would collect the amount once the written order is issued. The amount had been submitted in 2019 as part of bail conditions. Earlier, NAB also declared its petition seeking cancellation of Maryam's bail ineffective after her acquittal.
