Tokyo University Launches Fully Automated AI Lab

Tokyo University has opened a fully automated research laboratory where robots run experiments without human staff. The system uses advanced robotics to handle tasks like mixing chemicals, transferring samples, and operating lab equipment, aiming to make scientific research faster and more efficient.

The facility includes humanoid lab robots such as Maholo LabDroid, capable of performing delicate and repetitive scientific procedures. Researchers believe this setup could eventually automate the entire research process, from experiments to data analysis.

The project highlights Japan's push toward Al-driven science and robotics to reduce workload and human error in laboratories, with plans to expand automation further in the future.
