The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that a moderate westerly weather system is entering northern regions, increasing the risk of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs), flash floods, and debris flows in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The system is expected to bring rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with chances of heavy rainfall in mountainous areas.
📠Vulnerable regions include: Swat, Chitral, Dir, Kohistan, Hunza, Nagar, Shigar, and Astore.
Authorities have advised residents to stay away from rivers, move livestock and valuables to safer locations, and remain alert as disaster management teams stay on high alert.
